Posted on: 27/03/2018
The Club’s Committee are delighted to announce that we are again supporting Marie Curie Hospice, Edinburgh, a charity who are dedicated to ensuring people living with a terminal illness and their families get the very best care and support.
For those of you have been with us for a while you may remember that we famously raised £10,000 first time around in 2005.
Following an e-mail survey of the Club’s membership, Committee have decided to support this charity for at least two years, potentially three.

Charity
Posted on: 13/12/2017
Another Charity Day has passed us by, with another great effort by all of those involved. £3,168.32 was the figure raised for The Yard, which is fantastic considering that we ‘adopted’ them so late in the year.
Committee has just had their first meeting of the ‘new year’ and have had the usual discussion about how it went, could we do anything better, who will we support next year etc.
A suggestion was made that perhaps we should look at supporting a charity, not for just the usual one year, but longer term, perhaps over 3 to 5 years. This way we would be able to strike up a better relationship with the charity and work together to try and take the fundraising to a new level.
This is where you come in!
We are looking for (a) some feedback on the idea of sticking with one charity for a longer period and (b) some suggestions of charities we could support.
For question (b) please remember that the charity should preferably be:
(i) local (Edinburgh, the Lothians, central belt and perhaps Fife) or, if it is a national charity, have a local element to it; and
(ii) it must be a registered charity, registered with OSCR.
Please pop any feedback or suggestions you may have on a piece of paper and post it through the office door or e-mail me at thesecretary@murrayfieldindoorsportsclub.co.uk
Closing date for feedback is Monday 15 January 2018.

East of Scotland League EGM - Wednesday 24/6/2015 @ 7pm
Posted on: 15/06/2015
As per an official request signed by 12 members of the league, we are required to hold an Extraordinary General Meeting with the sole purpose of amending Rule 3 of the constitution to ensure that anyone bowling in the East of Scotland League will be a member of MISC for the entire duration of a season.
The constitution currently states
“3. Membership and Eligibility
Teams – The membership of this league shall consist of any number of teams duly elected as provided for by section 12b of this constitution.
Individual – Each team member must pay the current league entry fee and at the time of registration be a member of M.I.S.C or on the waiting list or a member of staff to qualify for the complete league program. ”
The proposed amendment would look like this.
"Teams - The membership of this league will consist of any number of teams duly elected as provided for by section 12B of this constitution.
Individuals - All team members must be members of Murrayfield Indoor Sports Club. For existing members, renewal of membership is effective from 1st February each year, and members must renew their membership no later than the 28th February. If a member has not, for whatever reason, renewed his/her membership by 28th February then he/she is not eligible to play in any league/competition until such time as he/she has been re-admitted to membership of Murrayfield Indoor Sports Club by the club committee at which time he/she will be eligible to play in future League and Competition events.
If any league member who has not renewed his/her membership by 28th February, played in an East of Scotland League or Competition during the month of February then any score recorded will not count for League or Competition purposes. If it is found that a player was not eligible to play, no score will be recorded and any points adjusted accordingly.”
This amendment would also remove the current mention of people on the waiting list being eligible to play, as this is in direct contradiction with the M.I.S.C constitution.
This amendment will require a two thirds majority of all people present and voting at the EGM. Unlike the AGM it is not compulsory for all teams to attend, however as always to ensure your voice is heard please come along and share your opinion if you wish.

Direct Debit Scheme
Posted on: 11/01/2015
...sign up now to pay for next year’s subs (2016)!
How?
Complete the Direct Debit Instruction form, including your name, address and e-mail address, and then return it to the Club. This is your instruction to your bank to permit us to debit your bank account. We’ll take care of everything else.
Advantages
- Automatic renewal – we’ll renew your subs each year and confirm this to you by e-mail.
- Spread the cost – we will debit your account on the TENTH of each month from May this year through to February next, then repeat that each year until you ask us to stop. Before we start a new year, we will e-mail you to tell you exactly how much we will be taking and on what date we will debit your account. If you happen to be one of the lucky ones who will benefit from half price subs in the next year or so, don't worry, this will be taken into account and your Direct Debit payment reduced accordingly.
For the avoidance of doubt: you will be paying your subs in advance each year.
- Pay next year’s subs at this year’s rate – if the members increase the subs at the AGM in November we won’t chase you for the difference (if they reduce the subs, we’ll pay you back!).
- Pay multiple subs in one instruction – e.g. dad can pay for mum, dad and the kids

Jimmy Laidlaw - Tax Baby
Posted on: 01/04/2014
While we know he wants to keep things very low-key, the Club notes that Trustee and Life Member Jimmy Laidlaw will be 60 years young this Saturday 5th April. He's the original "tax baby". "What's a tax baby?" you may ask. Back in the day, dad received a full year's tax allowance for a child born anytime in that year. Very cleverly sixty years ago Mrs Laidlaw managed to produce Jimmy on the very last day of the tax year. So that's where Jimmy gets his brains from then! Congratulations Jimmy - have a great day.
